Heisman Watch 2011

The Heisman trophy is the number one individual reward in all of college football. It is given every year to the best player in the nation each season. There are many deserving players this season as always but here are my top five candidates through week 7.

1. Russell Wilson is having a monster season after transferring to Wisconsin from NC State this season. He is a versatile quarterback and they whole reason behind the success of the Badgers offense. He is the best player in the country at this time.

2. Andrew Luck is my second player in the Heisman ranks right now. He has thrown for nearly 1400 yards and 14 touchdowns this season while only throwing two interceptions all season. He will have a lot of work to do to pass Russell Wilson.

3. Robert Griffin III is a surprise candidate this year out of Baylor University. He is having a monster season throwing for 1520 yards and 19 touchdowns and the season is only halfway over. He is on pace to throw almost 40 touchdowns this season, which is unbelievable.

4. Kellen Moore, no surprise is right around the Heisman Trophy race at this point in the season. The Boise State quarterback has 1400 yards and 17 touchdowns but they have had no challenges this season, and will need to be undefeated to get him more respect.

5. Trent Richardson is kind of a surprise but he is having a good season at Alabama this year. He has rushed for 729 yards, 11 touchdowns, and a stunning 6.3 yards per carry. He may not win the Heisman but he’s definitely having a great year.
